Two Eagles

Wonono and I woke up to sun today. I burrowed deeper under the covers, which is my morning routine, but he said, “I’m going for a walk!” Today’s his birthday, so how could I not go with him? Once I was in my clothes, and walking down the block towards the beach, I was glad I had come. The water was calm, and the tide high, but we were able to walk down the boat ramp, and watch the ducks swimming around. There were two groups, ducking and swimming and floating. By the time we were halfway up the hill across from our house on the way into Fort Worden the sun was gone, but it was still gorgeous out: huge, swirling dark gray clouds, white sky, white fluffy clouds, and pink streaks on the horizon because of the fading sun. Then Wonono pointed, and perched in the trees before us were two regal, magnificent bald eagles. Even though I’ve lived up here for fourteen years, I still can’t get used to them. When an eagle soars over my head, I feel blessed…by nature, I guess. Makes my heart beat faster, and I always, always have a good day afterwards. Of course Wonono had his camera, and now I’ll try to attach one of the pictures he took.

Early Tuesday morning in Port Townsend.
