When my first husband and I went out to California the first time, he was doing a three-month internship with the American Film Institute. We had no money, but were fortunate because we were able to stay with his Uncle who lived in Brentwood. When my husband told me, in passing, that his uncle was Michael Kidd, the choreographer of ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ I was thrilled. I had seen that movie at least seven times as a kid, and still think the barn raising scene is one of the best dance scenes in any movie. Our first morning there I almost blew my relationship with him. My honesty saved me.
